Account settings
Your name as sign-in recorded it, changing your account email address, resetting your password, your default organization, and interface preferences.
Your account's Settings page (/account/settings) manages your personal
account: your credentials, and the organization a sign-in opens. These
settings belong to your identity alone and apply across all organizations you
belong to.
Profile
The Profile card shows your Name, Email, Sign-in method (when
your sign-in reported one, which a self-hosted OpenID Connect sign-in does
not), and User ID, with a copy button on the ID. With no name on your
account, Name shows the part of your address before the @. The name is
the one you gave at sign-up, or the one your identity provider sends with each
sign-in; the console has no field to change it. It appears on your member row,
on the invitations you send and in the mail telling somebody you added them to
a project; the audit log records your user ID. Your
first sign-in named your organization after its first word ("Ada's
organization"), or "My organization" when you had none; a different name at a
later sign-in does not rename it.
Changing your email address
The Email section appears for an account whose address is its own to move: a password account on a self-hosted deployment or, on the hosted service, an account that signs in with a code emailed to it. The Password section appears for a password account alone. An account that signs in through Google or single sign-on changes its address with that provider, and the sections do not appear.
Updating your email requires two 6-digit verification codes:
- Enter the new email address; the one already on your account is refused.
- Two 6-digit codes are sent:
- One to your current email address.
- One to your new email address.
- Enter both verification codes into the console. Both codes expire after 15 minutes, and five wrong guesses burn them; Resend codes issues a new pair, and Use a different address starts over. Codes can be requested five times a day and three times an hour, Resend codes included. On the hosted service, the new address's code comes from its identity provider and follows that provider's expiry and attempt limits.
On a self-hosted deployment, an address another account already holds is
refused with a 409 when you ask for the codes, and again at confirmation if
another account took it in the meantime. On the hosted service, its identity
provider decides whether the address is free.
When the email update succeeds:
- All active sessions are terminated immediately (including the current session). You must sign in again with your new email address.
- On a self-hosted deployment, the new address is recorded as verified: the code it received is the proof. On the hosted service, it is recorded as its identity provider reports it.
- Any pending deletion codes or sensitive confirmation codes issued to the old email address are invalidated.
Resetting your password
Select Email me a password reset link. On a self-hosted deployment, a single-use link valid for 60 minutes is emailed to you, at most five a day. Using it ends all existing sessions, updates the stored Argon2id password hash, and records your address as verified, since the link came from it.
The hosted service holds no password: you sign in with a code emailed to you or through Google, and the section does not appear.
Default organization
The Default organization section names the organization a sign-in opens:
signing in lands on its Overview (/{organization}), unless a page sent you
to sign in, which it returns you to. A telmoni login through the browser
saves the same organization as the CLI's active one. To change
it, choose another of the organizations you belong to and select Save; the
choice is recorded in that organization's audit log.
Until you choose one, the default is the first organization you joined among those you own or, if you own none, the first you joined. Creating an organization leaves it as it was: if you own none and have chosen none, Telmoni records the current one as your choice. A choice belongs to your membership, not to the organization:
- Leaving the organization, or being removed from it, clears the choice, and the default falls back as above. Joining it again does not restore it.
- While the organization waits out its deletion, it is passed over.
Interface preferences
The user menu in the console header sets display preferences, which this browser keeps:
- Theme: Select System theme (synchronizes with your operating system's appearance), Light theme, or Dark theme.
- Corners: Choose Rounded corners or Sharp corners for the console.
- Keyboard shortcuts: Select Keyboard shortcuts from the user menu, or
type
?(Shift/on a US keyboard), to see the shortcuts. Letter-key shortcuts can be turned off on the Accessibility page.
